In order to make the Chinese Proficiency Test (YCT/HSK) better serve Chinese learners, Hanban organised experts in the fields of Chinese and foreign language teaching, linguistics, psychology and educational measurement to fully investigate and understand the situation of overseas Chinese teaching. Based on this, it utilised the advantages of the original HSK, applied the latest research results of international language testing in recent years, and launched the new Chinese proficiency test (YCT/HSK).
There are currently 10 classes in our school, and the youngest class is 5 years old. According to the age and Chinese level of the students, we offer classes for Beginners (YCT Levels 1 & 2), Intermediate (YCT Levels 3 & 4), Advanced (HSK Levels 4-6) and HSK Adult Classes.
The school uses the "Hanyu Pinyin" tutorial published by Jinan University for students to use at the beginning of their admission. In order to facilitate the teaching of Pinyin to overseas primary school students, a flexible method is adopted, where students enter the study of spelling PinYin as soon as possible. Some pictures and simple Chinese characters corresponding to PinYin are also arranged in the textbook to help students gain a preliminary understanding of the relationship between PinYin, Chinese characters and Chinese used in context, by comparing pictures, PinYin and Chinese characters.
The "Hanyu Pinyin Workbook" is used to arrange and practice the content of the "Hanyu Pinyin Textbook”. It is mainly used to train students to recognise and read tones, spelling PinYin, and develop correct pronunciation.
The first stage is to learn to master the spelling and use of Chinese Pinyin. Combined with the YCT1 tutorial, students will practice Pinyin and spelling repeatedly, so that they can read Chinese characters without the need for parents to assist.
The new YCT is an international standardised test of Chinese proficiency, which tests the ability of primary and secondary school students, of which Chinese is not their first language in their daily life and study. The new YCT is divided into two parts, the written test and the oral test, of which the two tests are independent of each other.
YCT (Level 1) Cultivate young children's interest in learning Chinese and complete Chinese enlightenment teaching.
YCT (Level 2) Be proficient in simple Chinese sentences and increase vocabulary, and have the ability to use everyday language and simple communication.
YCT (Level 3) Have simple and direct communication skills on daily life topics, and have reached the level of primary Chinese excellence.
YCT (Level 4) Be able to communicate in Chinese proficiently, and be able to independently complete daily life and study in Chinese.
The new HSK is an international standardised test of Chinese proficiency, focusing on the ability of candidates who do not use Chinese as their first language to communicate in their daily life, study and work. The new HSK is divided into two parts, the written test and the oral test, which are independent of each other.
HSK (Level 4,5,6) To further enhance the independent ability of Chinese non-first language students to use Chinese in life, study and work, as well as a better understanding of Chinese culture.
HSK (Adult Class) For parents and adults who are interested in learning Chinese. Through a deeper understanding of Chinese culture and learning Chinese sentences and grammar, share learning experiences with children and jointly inherit Chinese culture.
The HSK Speaking Test (HSKK) assesses the candidates' Chinese oral expression abilities. HSKK consists of three levels: HSKK (Primary level), HSKK (Intermediate level) and HSKK (Advanced level). HSKK is conducted in the form of audio recordings.
HSKK (Elementary) is mainly for candidates who study Chinese for one to two academic terms at a pace of 2-3 class hours per week, and master around 200 of the most commonly used words.
HSKK (Intermediate) is mainly aimed at candidates who have studied Chinese for one to two academic years at a pace of 2-3 class hours per week, and mastered around 900 commonly used words.
HSKK (Advanced) is mainly for candidates who have studied Chinese for more than two academic years at a pace of 2-3 class hours per week, and mastered around 3,000 commonly used words.
